Did you know that washing your hands has the potential to save more lives than any single vaccine or medical intervention? There is the constant debate every year that you as a parent have to make: “Should I get the flu vaccine and should my child get a flu vaccine?”
If you are like many concerned parents, then you really don’t know which decision to make regarding flu vaccines for you and your family. You only want the best for your children and their health. So while you may have not made a decision on the flu vaccine, one habit you can start today is teaching your kids to have clean hands all day long.
My daughter learned a hand washing song at her preschool. And now that she knows the song, I don’t have to remind her to wash her hands after using the bathroom. She happily sings the songs with all of the hand motions necessary to keep her hands clean. The perfect flu fighting prevention method is to get your child to wash their hands when ever they might come into contact with germs.

When should you wash your hands?
What is the right way to wash your hands?
Wet your hands with clean running water (warm or cold) and apply soap. Rub your hands together to make a lather and scrub them well; be sure to scrub the backs of your hands, between your fingers, and under your nails. Continue rubbing your hands for at least 20 seconds. Rinse your hands well under running water. Dry your hands using a clean towel or air dry.
