Tomorrow is National Day of Service, a day when volunteers all over the country will dedicate a few hours of their time to serving their communities—at food banks, health clinics, park clean-ups, and through thousands of other projects. It’s a tradition started by the first family as a way to honor the legacy of our civil right leaders. It’s also a great opportunity to teach our kids what it means to serve and be a part of a community.

Everybody can be great … because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace, a soul generated by love.— Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
