GET A WEEKLY DOSE OF PARENTING INSPIRATION

Hello friend…Happy New Year!

new year 2011 and 2012 on the shore

The end of the year always brings a time for reflection. We also get to make space for inspiration on how we want to live our lives. What inspires you? What gets you excited?

Jen and I launched Family Sponge in November of this year. We get super excited when we work on this project together. We want to create an inspiration playground for parents to do more good in the world. But what does that look like?

I personally hope it means you will take more time on yourself. Nurture your mind and body. Parenting can bring on some challenging issues like finding the time and space for alone time, balancing family schedules, pursuing your personal goals and passions while still raising compassionate and loving children.

We are raising awesome little people who will be the future of what our world looks like. But don’t forget to live in the present moment. There is no better time than now. Get on the floor and play with your kids. Give hugs like they are going out of style. Say, “I love you” often. Carve out time to be in silence and meditate. Write down your passions. Volunteer for an organization you believe in. Take a class and learn something new. Turn up the music and dance with your children. Welcome laughter into your home with hugs and high-fives!

In the new year, Jen and I will continue to share what inspires us. But what we really want to know is what inspires you? We invite you to join us in this dialogue. Share your story. We’d really like to get to know you a little better.

Here are some of our favorite posts for 2011:

A secret weapon for a healthy family
Capture the moments
Falling in love with children’s literature
Life without a TV
Making chores fun
Playroom inspiration
Tazo chai tea latte recipe

Don’t be afraid to get to know yourself a little better. Ask yourselves important questions about life. What is love? And go ahead and ask that same question to your child. I did it, and I was pretty amazed at what my four year old daughter had to say about love…

Here’s to a rockin’ 2012! Cheers!
